Il dolore non si descrive, si attraversa. Dopo aver letto 'Il dolore è una cosa con le piume' (Grief is the Thing with Feathers) di Max Porter, ho capito che ci sono libri che non raccontano la sofferenza, ma la evocano. Porter rompe la forma per farci arrivare l'impatto emotivo crudo, quasi fisico. 

Questa scoperta mi ha portata a ordinare anche 'Lanny'. 

Se nel primo libro era un corvo a farsi carico del lutto, qui è il bosco stesso a farsi personaggio... una creatura millenaria che osserva e ascolta: un elemento che crea un ponte inaspettato con 'Slewfoot' di Brom. In entrambi i testi, la natura non è solo uno sfondo, ma un’entità senziente, a tratti inquietante. 

È incredibile come autori così diversi attingano allo stesso immaginario ancestrale: il bosco come luogo di perdita, ma anche di risveglio di forze che non possiamo controllare.

Grief isn't something you describe; it is something you move through. After reading Max Porter’s Grief is the Thing with Feathers, I realized there are books that don't just tell us about suffering—they evoke it. Porter breaks the traditional form to deliver a raw, almost physical emotional impact.

This discovery led me to order Lanny as well. If the first book featured a crow bearing the weight of mourning, here the woods itself becomes a character... an ancient creature that observes and listens. This element creates an unexpected bridge to Brom’s Slewfoot. In both texts, nature is more than just a backdrop; it is a sentient, at times unsettling entity. It’s incredible how such different authors draw from the same ancestral imagery: the woods as a place of loss, but also a place where forces beyond our control awaken.
